Credenza is fitted wardrobes table that serves as a place to display and store. But actually the definition has evolved from initial definition. Credenza that has existed since the 19th century, formerly defined as a food taster table. In ancient times, to ensure the food served to the nobility or the royal family in Europe free of toxins, the guards assigned to taste the food first. And these foods placed on a long table which is now known as the credenza.
Various Functions, Design, and Size
Today, the term “credenza” continues to be used, but its function has been expanded. Now credenza became the name for furniture shaped like a table with a function for displaying and storing items in drawers or cabinets.
Now, the increasingly widespread use of the credenza. Initially, the furniture is found in many offices. But now, the credenza is also found in the corners of the house, from the living room to the dining room. In the family room, credenza commonly used to display collectibles and framed photographs and storing books in the drawers. While in the dining room, credenza can be used as a place to store a variety of tableware.
Over time, the size and design of the credenza increasingly diverse. For its size, there is no standard size for the credenza. However, the range of the average height of 40-110 cm, with a width of between 40-60 cm. The design is also more diverse, ranging from the classic style with carved ornaments in plain minimalist style.
For material, wood is the most common material used for the credenza. So it looks more luxurious, wood is usually combined with other materials, such as granite or marble are made as a table top.
