Golden Gate Bridge : History, Park and Photo Gallery
Red giant suspension bridge welcomed my arrival that afternoon. From a distance, it looks elegant spans of the bridge over the ocean, with views of the hills in the background. Golden Gate is amazing. ExtendCreative opportunity to visit the iconic city of San Francisco, California, USA last week. Blowing air was chilling enough, even with the glare of the sun sunny day. Understandably, the summer soon passed and California is to meet the winter when we visited there.
Without wasting time, I was soon driving around exploring the area. On one side of the bridge, there is a park which features monuments and historical development of the Golden Gate. Built in the early 19th century, the Golden Gate is the total length of 2.7 kilometers with a width of 27.4 meters had proved controversial at first. Is Michael O’Shaughnessy, an engineer who proposed the idea to connect the two areas of California, the San Francisco and Marin County via a bridge.
The idea was ridiculed, even touted impossible to build a bridge because it would take an enormous cost. Until finally an architect named Joseph Baermann Strauss, who then invited to another architect Irving Morrow, and Charles Alton Ellis keen to realize the idea. Emerging opposition from various groups, including the owner of the ferry company which has an interest. They are aggressively trying to stop the construction of the bridge. But Strauss is not broke. He seeks to organize from the political, financial, and promotion to build bridges.
Interestingly, as big and fancy as the bridge was built at a time when the equipment and the technology is simple. Officially opened on May 28, 1937, the construction of the Golden Gate was completed less than four years at a cost of approximately USD 35 million. That’s the story. Not only the garden, around the Golden Gate also a ferry port: Fort Point and Angel Island. East Bay hills into the main background view of the Golden Gate.
