The Dalmatian has a big deep chest leading to a fairly small waist. The Dalmatian is named according to the name of the Dalmatia region on the Adriatic coast, Croatia. For centuries the Dalmatian was used as a war dog, hunter, retriever, and guards. Dalmatian even was a pet for fashion purposes in the 18th century and the 19th by the rich who live in England, where the modern Dalmatian breeding actually formed.
A few years later Dalmatian began to enter the United States, and they quickly began to be widely known. Even today, Dalmatian dog is still known as a symbol of the fire department. This leopard dog breed used in the fire station as they once used to lead the exciting horse carriage in the 19th century. Finally Dalmatian is no longer used for fire fighting tasks and they become a pet dog and a dog show.
Not only a symbol of America’s dogs firefighters, Dalmatian also known for their roles in the film 101 Dalmatians. Dalmatian-themed film is a success boosted the popularity of the Dalmatian as a pet home after the breed is steadily decreasing over the years.
